“Who Doesn’t Love Girl Guide Cookies?”
That was a phrase I’ve probably said close to a thousand times growing up. I was involved in Girl Guides of Canada from Brownies till Pathfinders and I even volunteered with the adorable little pink Sparks too.

Girl Guides have always held a special place in my heart and I honestly can’t imagine growing up without being a member. With my Mom as one of our local leaders we had countless adventures camping, hiking, doing Hawaiian pig roasts, staying in yurts along the river, looking for Easter egg nests, bottle drives, learning how to carve wood and soooo much more. I made so many friends in my own local group as well as on various camps with other Girl Guide troupes across the world! My sister even got to travel to Mexico with the Girl Guides and met other girls while volunteering there. It’s a wonderful group that promotes leadership, confidence, friendship and overall girl greatness!

So many strong, inspirational women have been members of Girl Guides (or Girl Scouts as it is known in the states). Famous women such as Mariah Carey, Barbara Walters, Venus Williams, Celine Dion, even the Queen of England and her sister Princess Margaret were Girl Guides.

The Girl Guide cookie boxes have a long history throughout Canada. Did you know that upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, during the Gulf War every Canadian soldier was given a box of Girl Guide cookies!? Also, the first ever female astronaut in space Roberta Bondar brought a box of Girl Guide cookies with to snack on in outer-space! How amazing is that?!

This year, although I’m no longer officially a Girl Guide I have partnered with the Girl Guides of Canada to remind everyone that cookie sales are starting soon. The sales are on from the end of March until June.
So, be on the look out for girls going door to door this spring selling the classic chocolate and vanilla cookie combo boxes for $5.The money goes towards camps and different local Girl Guide programs. The experience of selling cookies also gives young girls confidence and business values which is so important.
My favourite are the vanilla cookies! I love eating them after they’ve been in the freezer, or you can crumble them up and use as toppings on ice-cream on even yogurt. The classic cookies are produced in a nut-free bakery and have zero grams trans-fat.
